PASS testing, explained

What PASS is
PASS — Performer Availability Screening Services — is the adult industry’s shared testing system, administered by the Free Speech Coalition. Performers test at PASS-certified labs, and the database shows productions whether a performer is available to shoot — a green light, never your actual results. Results stay between you and the lab.
How it works
What’s on the panel
The current standard panel screens for HIV (RNA test), syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, and hepatitis B and C. Panels are updated by the industry as standards evolve — the current version is always listed at passcertified.org.
What it costs
Expect roughly $150–250 per panel — around $240 is common — every 14 days while actively shooting. Some productions reimburse; many don’t. It’s a business expense (and tax-deductible), so budget it into your rates — our Travel Shoot calculator includes a testing line for exactly this reason.
Do you need it?
Shooting content alone, or only online? PASS isn’t required — it exists for partnered professional shoots. But if you collab with pro performers or take studio bookings, current PASS status is the standard expectation, and having it makes you easier to book.
