Your first 30 days on cam

everyone’s first stream is rough. plan for it.

The first month of camming is where most people quit — usually because nobody told them what "normal" looks like. This is the day-by-day version of normal, from setup to your first regulars.

Days 1–5: set up before you stream

✓Pick your platform (see our comparison guide) and complete identity verification — it can take a few days.

✓Set up your profile completely: bio, rates, tip menu, rules. Empty profiles read as abandoned.

✓Test your gear: lighting matters more than camera quality, and upload speed matters more than both. Wired internet if you possibly can.

✓Privacy basics: geoblock your region if you need to, separate email and persona accounts, nothing identifying in frame — mail, diplomas, street views.

Weeks 1–2: consistency over intensity

Stream on a consistent schedule — same days, same hours — because regulars are built by being findable. Shorter, frequent sessions beat marathon streams that burn you out by week two.

Expect little to no money at first. That is normal, not failure. New rooms start with no regulars and no ranking. Greet every chatter by name, keep the tip menu visible, and treat a five-viewer room like a hundred-viewer room — those five decide whether you get to a hundred.

Weeks 3–4: read the data, adjust

Look at what actually worked: which days, hours, session lengths, and activities earned. Do more of that. Start your off-platform funnel — socials that point to your room — because platform discovery alone is slow. Add goals and games once you understand your audience, and raise private-show rates only when demand shows up.

The money reality check

Most new cammers earn very little in month one — the job compounds: regulars, rank, and skill all build over months. Track your hours honestly and run your token math through the calculator so you know your true hourly rate. Judge month one on growth and habit, not income.
